TooMuchWifi - a community-engaging ISP!

TooMuchWifi not only serves the communities of Cape Town with affordable wifi. We pride ourselves on being active participants within them. Our aim, as a community ISP, is to assist in improving the lives of our customers. We have managed to do this by partnering with various NPO initiatives and getting involved in community projects.

Constructed in 1961 in the Cape Flats, Bonteheuwel is a predominantly coloured township. After a series of violent attacks and drug abuse within the area, The Bonteheuwel International Women’s Peace Group decided to take action! And thus, the David Profit Street Peace Garden was developed.

The garden is situated between a school and a clinic, which is behind a church wall. This area was used as a dumping site and a crime hub in the community. This encouraged unsafe activity. With the help of The Bonteheuwel International Women’s Peace Group it was turned into a beautiful area for the community! The garden has become a symbol of hope for Bonteheuwel. It has created an opportunity to educate the children of Bonteheuwel on nature conservation.

On Saturday, 10 September 2022, the team spent the day tidying up the David Profit Peace Garden. They also assisted in the festivities of the opening of the new Gym Park. The festivities included a performance by local artist Iamiekie, family fun and free hotspot vouchers provided by our team.

The day was an incredible opportunity for our team to serve the community, meet potential customers and support local initiatives. The intention behind the David Profit Street Peace Garden is to create a safe space. It encourages youth programmes, and foster social cohesion in communities – bringing the community of Bonteheuwel together!
