THE HEARTOF OUR COMPANY
Our Story
TooMuchWifi was started in 2016 with the aim of providing more affordable internet connectivity to aspirational communities within Cape Town. The founders Jonathan Endersby and Ian Thomson set out to develop our own network infrastructure and technology that bridges the connectivity gap in areas where the cost of data is too high. Now serving the greater Western Cape, with over 400 000 happy customers in over 50 communities, we are on a mission to bridge the digital divide faced in aspirational communities. We partner with our communities through various initiatives like soup kitchens, sports teams and local events, as well as building relationships with community members and influencers. By providing fast, reliable and affordable internet connectivity, we can connect communities and businesses, facilitate access to information and education, and enable people to work and communicate effectively- no matter where they are in the world.
Our Social Impact
At TooMuchWifi, we are deeply committed to the communities we serve. Our mission is driven by social impact, offering low-cost internet while enhancing the lives of those in historically disadvantaged and under-resourced areas. To date, we’ve saved over R340 million in data costs for our customers, trained and upskilled over 300 individuals, and employed more than 75 staff members from aspirational communities. We believe in giving back—30% of our revenue is reinvested directly into our communities through revenue sharing, salaries for local staff, and partnerships with local suppliers. Additionally, 10% of our data sales revenue is dedicated as 'social currency,' supporting community organizations focused on education, youth leadership, environmental initiatives, and entrepreneurship. Join TooMuchWifi today and be part of a movement that’s making a real difference in your community.
