From the Hub of Khayelitsha
Dubbed Qhama Musiq, Aphiwe Menziwa is a multitalented performer from Khayelitsha. The Eastern Cape orgonite is a singer, songwriter, voice-over artist, actor, MC/Host, facilitator, voice coach, recording artist, social entrepreneur and a digital content creator. From the heart of Khayelitsha, he has managed to successfully infiltrate the arts industry and put Khayelitsha on the map!
He has graced multiple stages around South Africa with his vibrant and infectious energy. As a host and MC, QHAMA MUSIQ has hosted events in FNB and Orlando Stadium for The Revelation Spiritual Home (TRSH). He is also the resident host of Ghetto Sessions, which is a live performance Arts and Crafts Fair hosted in Khayelitsha.
When asked what the highlight of his acting career is, he proudly speaks of his experience in theatre. His favourite performance to note is his stint in King Kong The Musical. He also thoroughly enjoyed acting in Passage, both were well received from Capetonian audiences.
“Art changed my family’s life. i-Art ineMali and yi-Career” says Aphiwe. His goal is for local people within the communities of South Africa to view art in a similar way.
QHAMA MUSIQ has toured around South Africa with The Engen Phambili Roadshow as an actor, singer, songwriter and dancer. Has done voice overs for Engen and Nulaid, just to name a few. He has a number of studio recorded songs like Eyokuza, Zola7, Khayelitsha, iBonus etc.
Apart from his artistic achievements, he is also the founder of Thembisa Ratanga, a multi-purpose center within the hub of Khayelitsha. Thembisa Ratanga provides a serene environment for children of Khayelitsha to attend community-driven events where they are able to play, learn and grow in a safe space.
