Back to school tips

Are you ready to go back to school? If not, don’t worry! Going back to school after a few months off can be tough. Back to school means back to routine; early mornings, new teachers and more work to study. Fortunately, there are ways to prepare for the transition before going back to school.

  1. Start your routine early

You can’t expect to go to bed at 2am and survive the day on 4 hours of sleep. In preparation before school starts, start going to bed at a reasonable hour and wake up early. This is way better than having to start your day with 10 cups of coffee and crashing midway through the day.

  1. Get ready the night before

Don’t waste time in the morning cooking your lunch for the day. Instead, pick your outfit and pack your bags the night before. This will allow you to not rush in the morning, and even get a few more hours of sleep in!

  1. Eat your breakfast.

When they said “breakfast is the most important meal of the day”, they weren’t lying. Breakfast is what gives you the energy and focus you need to make it through the day. Prioritising eating before you head to school.

  1. Plan your commute

Taxi ranks are packed in the morning. Who knows when and if you will get a spot in the taxi you need to take to get to school. Make sure that it’s all planned out, so you have at least a fighting chance of arriving on time. And make sure you pack your phone and earphones. There’s nothing worse than forgetting your earphones at home and being forced to talk to the person next to you at 7am in the morning.

  1. Know your schedule

Check your timetable before you get to school so you know where to go as soon as you arrive. This will ease any anxiety about starting at a new school or going to university for the first time.

We wish all students the best of luck! Starting a new school year can feel intimidating and overwhelming, but the tips above can help you start the new year with confidence!
